Wesley Chapel is an unincorporated suburb of Tampa located south central Pasco County, just north of New Tampa. Originally, the area was known as Double Branch and received its current name after a Methodist church in the area.
At 6.1 square miles t is one of the largest "cities" in Pasco County and is sought after because of its proximity to major roads leading into the Tampa area. Wesley Chapel has experienced a very rapid growth 2000. The 52,000 or so residents have populated new luxury communities including Preserve at Quail Woods, Citrus Trace, Saddlewood, Brooksville, Bridgeview, Watergrass, Villages of Wesley Chapel, Seven Oaks, Country Walk, Meadow Pointe, Chapel Pines, Bridgewater, Northwood, Belle Chase, Saddlebrook, The Ridge, Estancia, Provence, Windermere Estates, Lexington Oaks and Quail Hollow.
There are three new malls in the area, the Shops at Wiregrass and The Grove on the northern perimeter. Wiregrass is known for its well-reviewed restaurants, bars & shops. Cypress Creek Town Center & Tampa Premium Outlets are now open, both are continuing to go with new restaurants and specialty stores popping up almost daily. There are 3 new middle schools and 3 new high schools that service the area, Wiregrass Elementary opened in 2016. Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel is brand new and is open for business.
Wesley Chapel has been a major catalyst in the rapid growth of Pasco County, but through that growth, the area retains much of county feel and wildlife. Residents of Wesley Chapel love the area for several reasons, location, location and location are the most talked about attributes.
